It was a year of sad depressing songs....and excellent reissues.
Outstanding:
- Man man – Rabbit habits ( Best Album of the year 2008)
- Santogold - Santogold
- Vampire Weekend- Vampire Weekend
- Beach House - Devotion
Very Good:
- M83 – Saturdays=youth (If you close your eyes you can float)
- Hercules&love affair - Hercules&love affair (outstanding when Anthony sings. Crap otherwise)
- The Duke spirit – Neptune
- X-Wife- Are You Ready For The Blackout?
- Adele- 19 (outstanding singer. Minimal use of instruments. Mostly voice)
- Lykke Li – Youth novel
- Devotchka- A Mad and Faithfull Telling
- Last shadow puppets – The age of understatement (well balanced not brilliant)
- Tv on the radio- Dear science
- Francis Black – Svn Fngrs
- Mates of state – Re-arrange us (light happy pop)
- Neon Neon – Stainless style
- Deehunter- Microcastle
- Islands- Arms way
- The Dodos- Visiter
- MGMT- Oracular spectacular

Weak, bleak and meek (Bad harvests):
- Portishead, Beck, Fleet foxes (this San Francisco 60´s songs do not work for me)
REM, Goldfrapp, Elbow (the 2008 album is crap despite winning the Mercury, the 2005 album- Leaders of the free world- was excellent), Fuck buttons (boring!), Magnetic fields.
The above artists either needed money, were in a rush or were just having a bad day. This is not to say that the albums are not good...They just do not rank high when compared to previous work!
Worst nightmares of the year:
- Coldplay- Viva la Vida. Overhyped shit playing over and over on TVs and Radios. Very bad.
- Scarlet Johansson- Anywhere I lay my head. Someone please tell the lady she is unable to sing.
Didn´t listen to (yet): Of Montreal- skeletal lamping
